Advanced Foot & Ankle Clinic Providers Help Treat Ukrainian Soldiers Rehabbing injuries at the Protez Foundation!

Protez Fundation

Created with one simple goal.

Above are all the brave men from the Ukrainian armed forces at Protez Foundation. The Protez Foundation is a non-profit foundation with the aim to restore patient’s quality of life after the loss of limb. Currently, patients who were injured oversees are brought to the United States for state-of-the-art rehabilitation and support prior to their transition back to Ukraine. At Advanced Foot and Ankle Clinics our providers are fully trained in a new type of suspension biomechanics device known as Subiomed. This device is novel in that it allows for dynamic energy management allowing for deceleration and energy absorption with associated translation and return during gait. In practical terms, this allows for about a 30% reduction in force to the entire limb (foot, ankle, knee, hip, and low back). This combined with Subiomed’s unique ability to allow for precision motion control allows our providers to help a variety of lower extremity pathologies in both routine and challenging situations.

SUBIOMED

Subiomed uses Suspension Biomechanics™ technology to improve the quality of life for millions of people suffering from sub-optimal foot and ankle biomechanics.

Optimizing biomechanics.

Suspension Biomechanics™ is a technology platform designed to improve human gait and balance by managing the harsh forces that accelerate breakdown and failure, by providing safe and controlled motion. The technology has the potential to revolutionize the way we treatmanage and prevent injuries and lower extremity pathologies.

Subiomed

When asked about the significance of this novel technology Dr. Tokarski states, “Subiomed’s ability to control the energy management of the lower extremity is incredibly unique. This allows providers to not only control the more routine conditions such as Achilles tendonitis, Hallux limitus, and osteoarthritis, but offers a novel way to aide many patients who previously had few conservative treatment options. Patients with neuromuscular disorders (Parkinsons, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Denervation Injuries, etc), amputations (Foot, Below knee, or Above knee), or patients who are not candidates for larger reconstructive procedures have great ability to see a difference in their daily life. I am honored that we were able to provide care for not only these brave men, but patients of all walks of life. As someone who lives with chronic foot pain due to a relatively rare Subtalar joint coalition I truly understand how this can change someone’s daily life.”
